Neil Liske

Neil is a highly skilled potter and sculptor who has devoted his life to exploring the full potential of his craft. He established his Bowness Pottery studio in 1971 and has since made a name for himself in the Alberta art scene. His hand-built kiln is inspired by the iconic beehive kilns in Medicine Hat, and he also incorporates hand-drawn clay from the riverbanks into his work. Neil is constantly pushing the boundaries of traditional glazing techniques, creating truly original and sustainable art that is both practical and beautiful. Recently, Neil was kind enough to help me kiln fire a collection of whistles I made. To give you a better sense of this master artist at work, here are some photos Monique and I took of Neil in his studio. #2020 #potters #anthropology #waterwhistles #neilLiske
